Black plastic gift bags are made of LDPE (low-density polyethylene) or HDPE (high-density polyethylene). Some high-end styles also incorporate recycled materials or pearlescent masterbatch to enhance gloss and texture. The entire production process generally includes the following main steps:
1. Blowing Film
Blowing film is the first crucial step in plastic bag forming.
Plastic granules (PE raw material) are placed into the hopper of a blown film machine, heated, extruded, and inflated into a film tube. Black masterbatch can be added at this stage to give the film a uniform deep black color. The film thickness is adjusted according to the intended use (generally between 30–200 microns). The blown film has good flexibility, gloss, and waterproof properties.
Features: Smooth and even film surface; uniform color, not easy to fade; controllable thickness and transparency
2. Printing
Printing is an important part of shaping a brand image. Using gravure printing or flexographic printing processes, logos, patterns, text, etc., can be printed on the bag surface. Using environmentally friendly inks, the colors are vibrant and resistant to fading. Up to 12-color printing is possible, suitable for high-end gift packaging bags.
Features: Customizable logos and patterns
Fast-fast colors and abrasion resistant
Enhances packaging quality and brand recognition
3. Bag Making
Bag making is the process of processing film into specific bag shapes. This is done using a heat-sealing bag-cutting machine or a three-dimensional bag-making machine. Common bag types include: tote bags, flat bags, side-seal bags, bottom-seal bags, square-bottom bags, etc.
Handles can be designed with die-cut handles, drawstring handles, or patch handles to enhance load-bearing capacity and aesthetics.
Features: Strong heat seal, not easily broken
Neat edges, smooth lines
Customizable structural designs
4. Punching & Laminating
Further processing can be performed according to customer needs:
Punching: For carrying or hanging display.
Laminating: Glossy or matte film can be added to enhance surface gloss and abrasion resistance.
Adding handles/linings: Enhances the load-bearing capacity and texture of the gift bag.
5. Quality Inspection and Packing
Finally, the product undergoes rigorous quality inspection: checking thickness uniformity, seal strength, printing accuracy, and color consistency.
After passing inspection, the bags are neatly packaged according to customer requirements (typically 20-100 bags/pack, 100-200 bags/pack, or 500-1000 bags/box).
This process not only ensures the bags' aesthetics and practicality but also allows for customized production to meet the needs of different brands and occasions.
