Types of cling film
Cling film is a common kitchen item in daily life, used to wrap food to keep it fresh, prevent moisture loss and avoid cross contamination. According to different materials, characteristics and uses, cling film can be mainly divided into the following types:
Polyethylene (PE) cling film
Made of polyethylene (Polyethylene), a thermoplastic. Non-toxic, odorless, with good flexibility and transparency, easy to stretch and wrap food. PE cling film has low permeability to water vapor, but relatively high permeability to oxygen, suitable for short-term preservation.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cling film
Made of polyvinyl chloride (Polyvinyl Chloride), usually contains plasticizers to increase flexibility. High transparency and good ductility, but may contain plasticizers that are harmful to the human body (such as phthalates), which may release harmful substances under high temperature or oily environment.
Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) cling film
Made of polyvinylidene chloride (Polyvinylidene Chloride), with excellent barrier properties. It has a good barrier effect on oxygen, water vapor and odor, and has excellent preservation performance. PVDC cling film is usually thicker, flexible, high temperature resistant, and suitable for long-term preservation.
Biodegradable cling film
Made of biodegradable materials such as polylactic acid (PLA), starch-based plastics, etc. Environmentally friendly, degradable, and environmentally friendly. However, the preservation performance of biodegradable cling film may be slightly inferior to that of traditional plastic cling film, and the price is relatively high.
There are actually very few plastic wrap ingredients. Traditionally, it was constructed out of a poly material called Polyvinylidene Chloride (PVC).
